Visual Components is growing, so we are now looking for an Application Engineer to join our international team in Detroit, Lake Michigan. In your daily work you will tackle challenging tasks in cooperation with sales, development and customers as well as with partners from world-leading machine builders, system integrators, and manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

  • Product presentations and demonstrations
  • Pre- and post-sales support
  • Component modelling
  • Customer trainings
  • Customer and partner support
  • Consultancy work
  • Event staffing at exhibitions and trade shows
  • Software testing

Requirements for the applicant:

  • Relevant educational background, e.g. Master of Science
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience of programming gained from e.g. studies or hobbies
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to travel for work
  • Outgoing, positive and adaptable personality

What we see as an advantage: 

  • Knowledge of 3D modelling and/or 3D simulation
  • Experience in production, automation, and robotics systems
  • Other language skills than English

Requirements

  • Must be a current student enrolled in an academic program that will lead to a degree in computer science, software engineering, robotics and automation, or another related field.
  • Must be in your last year of studies
  • Interest in developing your skills in the growing areas of Robotics, Automation, Service Robotics, 3D Simulation and Visualization
  • Familiar with programming (ex. C++, C#, .NET, Python and JavaScript)
  • Ability to learn quickly and to work independently

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with robotic frameworks (ROS, OROCOS, Rock,…) is considered an advantage
  • Experience with service and mobile robots
  • Knowledge of simulation tools 
  • Experience with Linux
