DENSO, a market leader in the small assembly robot segment, was introduced to the Visual Components product family through an external system integrator. DENSO quickly found out that there were tools available for layout design and conceptual work cell design that were easy to use. They saw the capabilities of the Visual Components product family in strengthening their currently available toolsets for designing robot cells. As a result, DENSO decided to develop and publish the DENSO robot library together with Visual Components and make it available for anyone at the Visual Components’ online eCatalogue.
The main driver for choosing Visual Components was the ease of use – with the simple, intuitive user interface it will be possible for anyone to make reachability studies, collision checks as well as capacity analysis using Visual Components simulation software. With traditional simulation tools, these tasks have required a high level of knowledge and expertise from the design engineers. Robot cell simulations can also be integrated as a functional part into a simulation of a complete factory or logistic system. This gives DENSO the opportunity to offer their integrators and partners an easy way to design complete layouts and evaluate and validate their ideas and concepts in full scope, reducing substantially the effort and time employed for simulation tasks.
By using the new DENSO library in the Visual Components’ online eCatalogue, it will be possible for anyone to create realistically functioning robot cells and factory layouts – even in front of the customer. “Teaching robot positions and motion paths have become a common everyday task for users of all skill levels,” commented Mr. Yosuke Sawada, European Coordinator at DENSO Europe B.V.
Continuous product development together with the ability to communicate with third party solutions with 3DCreate from Visual Components offers a solid base for DENSO to support their network in the best possible way also in the future. To put it short and quote the DENSO slogan, the Visual Components product offer is “Beyond All Expectations”.
Denso has interfaced 3DCreate with their real robot controller RC7 via ORiN which enables an accurate visualization of the robot behavior. If you are interested in using 3DCreate together with Denso Robotics solutions have a real demonstration at the IREX fair in Japan 2009 and the AUTOMATICA fair in Germany 2010.
About Denso Robotics
As one of the world's largest automotive parts manufacturers, DENSO has been a pioneer and industry leader in robot design and manufacturing since the 1960s. DENSO is also the world's largest user of small assembly robots, with more than 16,000 DENSO robots employed in its own manufacturing facilities globally. More than 37,000 additional DENSO robots are used by other companies, giving DENSO by far the largest market share in the small assembly robot segment.
